Sassafras Gap

Whew, it was a tough day with rough terrain. I'm beat, but my foot held up well, which is a relief. We reached Sassafras Gap at about 5 p.m., with just enough time to rest a little bit, eat dinner and make camp. This puts us at about 63 miles along the trail, at an elevation of 3550 feet.


Forest loves hiking and is a huge help to me on the trail, pulling me when I need a boost, bracing for me when I'm stiff and need help getting up, and picking up his leash and other things and giving them to me when I'm too tired to bend over. Unfortunately, he hates to cook and doesn't have any thumbs to help pitch the tent. I guess I'll cut him some slack, though.
