Logan Brook Lean-to

After hiking 16 miles yesterday, we got a little later start this morning. The 100-mile Wilderness to this point has been flat, so we've been able to cover ground relatively quickly. That all ends after today. We have 2.5 miles to go to our resupply stop, and our target for the day is a total of 11 miles.

Resupply in the 100-mile Wilderness is like a treasure hunt. Because there are no stores, hostels or gas stations on this stretch of the Trail, we arranged in advance for the Appalachian Trail Lodge in Millinocket to drop a resupply bucket that we packed in the middle of the Wilderness. They provided written directions that I had to follow carefully once we passed Crawford Lake and approached Johnson Pond Road at Mile Marker 63. Without revealing the directions completely in case they use them repeatedly, they involved two trees, a pink ribbon, a tarp and a boulder. πŸ‘£πŸΎπŸΎπŸŒ²πŸŒ²πŸŽ€

When I found the resupply bucket, I had to unpack, redistribute all of the supplies I had and repack. Before leaving, I left the map the Lodge gave me on top of the bucket so they would know that the correct person had picked it up. Then, Forest and I headed back down the Trail where we would be climbing up and down until we reached Monson, Maine.

We arrived at our destination near Logan Brook Lean-to (Mile Marker 71.4), collected water and set up camp at about 8 p.m.
