It was overcast this morning and supposed to rain off and on throughout the day. I was planning on a little bit of a leisurely morning and breakfast so that I would arrive at the road where we are meeting a little after my wife. That way, I could just jump in the truck and not have to set up the tent to wait in the rain. Well, I made the mistake of telling Forest that we were going to see Mommy and my son. He got so excited and amped up that we got moving at about 9 a.m. We had to backtrack 0.2 miles to get water, so that left a total of five miles to the road. We did it in 1.75 hours, which even included a short break! The section of Trail included both inclines and downhill portions; I could never have done that distance at that speed on my own. One of these days, I'm going to test Forest to see how much weight he can pull. He was flying today; it was so much fun!
Forest hopped in the truck and wouldn't come out. I think he's ready for a break after flying up the Trail this morning.
Stopped in at an outfitters to look at gear today. My shoes have over 400 miles on them, so I decided to swap them out for hightops, to help protect the ankle I twisted. Thanks so much, James Howell Reese. I can't tell you how much it means to come into contact with generous folks like you, who ask nothing in return other than to follow along on my blog. I hope I can continue to make it interesting for you.
