Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Forest and I are both doing well at the pace I've set. We will continue to hike 8 to 10 miles per day until we get our trail legs. At that point, I hope to increase to 15 miles per day and keep that pace for the duration of the hike. I think Forest is better at napping on demand than I am. 😴

There have been a lot of day hikers on the trail when we are near towns, so I have to watch out for the ones that have dogs off leash. I've seen about 5 thru-hikers with dogs, but we keep our distance from each other, so it hasn't been a problem.

We have a bunk in the hostel at Mountain Crossings for the night, so I've been able to wash clothes, pick up my resupply box, and repack my pack. Oh, and I also had 2 pizzas for dinner! 🍕🍕
